My cucumber plants are growing like crazy but the leaves at the base of the plants are turning yellow, then brown then dry up to dust. It happens every year and I've rotated these crops. It will eventually take over the entire plant. What is it and how do I control it?

My cucumber plants look wilted. We have tried more water, less water and nothing seems to be working? They are in the sun and the soil seems to be well drained. Any suggestions about what we should do?

Hi, I live in Fort Lauderdale, and I planted cucumbers in October since everyone here told me to plant what I would normally plant in the spring somewhere else. It's a bit cold now, so I'm worried about my cucumbers being healthy till it warms up again. Is there anything I can do to ensure this? Also, I use Neem. Is that enough to discourage bacterial wilt. I've noticed the leaves are starting to wilt a bit, but I don't know if it is b/c of the weather or something like b. wilt. Oh, and haven't seen any beetles thus far...
Thanks So Much, & Please Advise,
Stella

My cucumber is on a sunny area and have a lot of young cucumbers. However, near the stem the leaves are turning brown. Does anyone have an idea why this is? I have not noticed any bugs but, I'll looke again

can any one tell me what is a good N.P.K level for cucumber plants ?

--------------

Texas A&M University recommends a fertilizer with fairly equal N P and K numbers, like a 10-10-10 or something along those lines. Organic fertilizers often have lower numbers, so you'd go with a 5-5-5 or a 2-2-2 or something like that.

I have cucumbers marketmore, I would like to pickle them is that plausable?

-------
Yes, these make great pickles. Marketmore cucumbers are slicing cucumbers, but you can make sliced pickles. My grandmother always made the best refrigerator pickles!

If you're wanting to make whole pickles, you may want to try growing a pickling variety next year. You pick those smaller.

is it safe to eat the cucumbers from plants that have downy mildew or powdery mildew

-------
Powdery mildew usually only affects stems and leaves of the plants, not the cucumbers. But, I would check with your local extension agency and see what they say.
