We went out to the garden tonight and all our pea pods were opened and left on the vine--with the sweet peas eaten. What could have done this?

This is so frustrating! Sounds like a raccoon or squirrel. Raccoons are famous for picking a garden at night, and squirrels during the day. Try some organic pest control, like this animal and critter control. Just make sure you use a safe product for a vegetable garden. Your goal will be to deter the critter from the garden with a scent or bad taste.
